Minoriten church not only impresses with its exterior, but also with its interior.
This picture shows the neo-gothic high Altar (made by Ferdinand Hohenberg).

The picture below actually shows the back side of the church. The front facade and the main entrance are located on the west. On the right of the picture you see a small bell tower.

My first impression when I saw the Minoriten church was, that it is much more bigger than I expected. It is located at the Minoriten square - quite and peaceful place in the hart of Vienna. The silence of the square, combined with the size of the building impressed me.
The Minoriten church was built in the 14th century from an unknown builder. However people believe he immortalised himself by means of a sculpture! There is a little figure, carrying a corner of the tower (at the center of the tower, above the long window).
Interesting fact about this church is that it was rebuilt after the Turkish occupation in 1683. The spire was destroyed and never restored to its original state. The left section was added to the main body of the building in 1910. The difference of the building styles is obvious.

Couple of days ago my friend showed me a picture of a beautiful church in Vienna and asked me if I know it. I was surprised and shocked at the same time, that I have never seen it!
